BuzzAngle’s music report for 2018 is here and streaming leading the era once again. Total music consumption increased by 16.2% compared to 2017. On-demand audio stream consumption saw huge increase, by 41.8% making it total of 535 billion streams. Last year, it was 377 Billion. Total audio and video streams equaled to 809 Billion!

On the other side, album and song sales die slowly. Albums sales declined by 18.2% and song sales declined by 28.8%. Physical sales also declined by 15.3%. But vinyl and cassette sales saw big growth in 2018.

Hip-Hop and Rap once again dominated another year. For the third year in a row, Hip-Hop/Rap was the top genre in terms of total song consumption, 24.7% up from 20.9% in 2017, with Pop second at 19% share followed by Rock at 12%.

As of Eminem, the Rap God topped pure albums sales chart as he sold 755,027 pure copies in US out of which 373,067 comes from Kamikaze. Eminem also sold 4,512,953 total unites and 3,893,942 songs in 2018 and his On-demand audio streams equaled to 5,052,797,166.
