“The Uppercut,” featuring Outlawz’s E.D.I. Mean and Young Noble, is a second track off 2 Pac’s fifth posthumous studio album Loyal to the Game. The album is entirely produced by Eminem and Luis Resto and was released on 12th of December, 2004. It debuted on the US Billboard 200 at #1 with sales of over 330,000 copies in its first week.
According to an interview with MTV, Eminem was so moved by Tupac’s life and work that he wrote a letter to Tupac’s mother, Afeni Shakur, asking her to consider letting him produce the album. Shakur agreed, giving Eminem the go ahead. The beat of “Uppercut” sounds like a standard Eminem style but 2Pac’s flow fits it perfectly. Bump it below:
