Asked in an interview with Van Jones on CNN Saturday to weigh in on Donald Trump’s infamous “shithole countries” rant, Jay-Z called the president’s words “disappointing and hurtful.” He continued, according to The Hill, “Everyone feels anger, but after the anger it’s really hurtful. Because it’s looking down at a whole population of people, and it’s so misinformed because these places have beautiful people and beautiful everything. This is the leader of the free world speaking like this,” he added. He also wondered if Trump’s comments stemmed from misconceptions he’s picked up in life, that, “somewhere along his lineage something happened to him. Something happened to him and he is expressing it in this sort of way.”
On Twitter Sunday morning, Trump attempted to fire back at Jay-Z’s answer, citing his oft-repeated fact that unemployment numbers for black Americans are at their lowest ever:
Somebody please inform Jay-Z that because of my policies, Black Unemployment has just been reported to be at the LOWEST RATE EVER RECORDED!

Eminem has led a crowd in chanting “Fuck Trump!”, dubbed him a racist in a vicious freestyle, and just this past week, he was quoted as saying, “a fucking turd would be a better president.” And yet on Sunday morning, Trump went after Jay Z and twitter went mad. Check some reactions below:
Eminem has been criticizing Trump for months, Trump has never responded.
Interesting to see Trump respond to Jay-Z in less than 24-hours. https://t.co/8wLUY9maWM

Eminem has a five hour rant against Trump.
Jay-Z says one thing.
Trump immediately writes an angry tweet.

Trump's treatment of Jay-Z and Eminem should come as no surprise. It's just like his 1970s housing discrimination scandal when there were "no vacancies for blacks." The only difference is that the same racist is now President of the United States.

Eminem Wrote A Whole Song About U & U Ain't Say A Word. Jay Told The Truth About U & U Responded… I Wonder Why???? ??♂️
— Plies (@plies) January 28, 2018
You never responded to Gregg Popovich, Steve Kerr or even Eminem but when it's Jay-Z, your nasty twitter finger in on full itch. What possibly could be the difference….
— Dave Zirin (@EdgeofSports) January 28, 2018
Why you ain't clap back at Eminem the same though? ? https://t.co/VQvXDXV9UP
— HipHopDX (@HipHopDX) January 28, 2018
Trump lashes back at Jay-Z, but never said a word about Eminem's criticism of him. I wonder why one, but not the other. Something is different. Just can't put my finger on it.
— Randi Mayem Singer (@rmayemsinger) January 28, 2018
I wonder why Trump has never responded to Eminem’s comments. I mean, I actually know why just like everyone else does.
— deray (@deray) January 28, 2018
Eminem must be really jealous of Jay-Z for getting Trump's attention.
— Ian Miles Cheong (@stillgray) January 28, 2018
It's still baffles me how Eminem had a WHOLE diss track towards trump and this guy didn't tweet shit. But Jay-Z has one interview and now you want to go off. Noted.
— Dimeji Babalola (@dimejibabalola) January 28, 2018
Eminem has made multiple rap verses dissing Trump for a while and he was silent. But when Jay-Z criticized him, Trump’s Twitter fingers woke up like pic.twitter.com/SsJsRRoHpI
— Tariq Nasheed (@tariqnasheed) January 28, 2018
Donald Trump never responded when Eminem called him a "racist grandpa," but his #TwitterFingers had time when Jay-Z said his sh*thole comments were hurtful: https://t.co/qFgWpLjCEC pic.twitter.com/xa8TPobqio
— The Root (@TheRoot) January 28, 2018
Did Trump immediately respond to #JayZ to troll Eminem?
Eminem is so jealous right now! Lol ?
— Millie Weaver (@Millie__Weaver) January 28, 2018
Somewhere, Eminem is crying because Jay-Z was acknowledged, but he still hasn’t been.
— Kassy Dillon (@KassyDillon) January 28, 2018
— DL Hughley (@RealDLHughley) January 28, 2018
Trump never responded to Eminem or Steve Kerr's criticisms, but didn't hesitate to snap back at Jay Z or LaVar Ball
We all know why that is
— Khaled Beydoun (@KhaledBeydoun) January 28, 2018
Eminem does a whole 10-minute piece about Trump and the president is quiet. Jay-Z gives CNN a sound byte and he Tweets the next morning about it… but nah, Trump ain’t racist.
— Bamb-brrrraaaatt! (@BambuDePistola) January 28, 2018
Eminem has been dissing Trump for months, Trump has never responded. Jay z say something and less than 10 hours later a reply
— Hovain (@Hovain) January 28, 2018
Trump had no problem when Eminem criticized him in a scathing video. But he takes immediate issue with Jay Z. The reason is quite clear. Trump's racism has often been reflected in his tweets.
— Anirvan Ghosh (@anirvanghosh) January 28, 2018
Eminem gotta be sick that Jay got the callout he wanted lol
— David Dennis Jr. (@DavidDTSS) January 28, 2018
Trump couldn't reply Eminem but has all the energy to tweet at Jay Z.
— Wale Adetona (@iSlimfit) January 28, 2018
Tweet about Eminem. https://t.co/l0Vb4GFbyE
— Nelba Márquez-Greene (@Nelba_MG) January 28, 2018
Now Eminem is going to be more mad because Jay Z got a response and he didn’t!! ? https://t.co/3TYPSsVasN
