Eminem’s performance at BET Hip-Hop Awards was so powerful that it even has some Washington policy makers talking. Specifically, Minnesota Congressman Keith Ellison was asked by TMZ about this thoughts on Eminem’s politically-charged cypher and, to his credit, Ellison sees lots of positives:


“Eminem, and many artists, make an important cultural contribution. We need to embed within our culture that voting is an obligation, is a responsibility and that, if you don’t vote, that’s not a protest. You can’t boycott the vote and Eminem who is the sun of state Michigan and the city of Detroit. He’s doing right thing. He’s doing what we expect artists to do and I really has heads off to Eminem. What Eminem is doing is just being true to his art. It’s inspiring and motivating so I’m grateful.” Watch the interview below:
