Today, 12 Years Ago, Eminem Released “Mockingbird”



On this day, exactly 12 years ago (April 25, 2005), Eminem released “Mockingbird,” as the fifth single off Encore. It was later included on Eminem’s greatest hits compilation album Curtain Call: The Hits. This song was also featured on the 2005 compilation album Now That’s What I Call Music 19 (U.S. series).


The song peaked at #11 on the US Billboard Hot 100, and #4 in the United Kingdom Singles Chart. It also entered in to the top 20 in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Netherlands, Germany, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Noway and Switzerland.


“Mockingbird” received a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Solo Performance and music video of the song won VEVO Certification Award. It received generally positive reviews from critics.


The song received GOLD certification in Australia (35,000 copies), Italy (25,000 copies), United Kingdom (400,000 copies) and United States (500,000 copies).
