Drake Ties Eminem & Kanye West for Second-most #1 Albums Among Hip-Hop Acts

Drake is at top again. Drizzy’s More Life playlist album debuts #1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Along with setting new streaming records, the “playlist” becomes Drake’s 7th consecutive chart-topping album.

According to Nielsen Music, More Life moved 505,000 album units opening week (226,000 in traditional album sales, 23,000 TEA units). Of that total, a record 257,000 units were attributed to streaming equivalent album units, which equates to 384.8 million streams of songs from More Life during its debut week.

Drake’s 7th #1 album ties Kanye West and Eminem for the second-most #1s among hip-hop acts, trailing only Jay Z, who leads with 13 #1s. Overall More Life is the biggest opening week for any album since Drake’s own VIEWS debuted with 1.04 million units moved in May 2016.
