List of Rappers Who Have Won an Oscar for “Best Original Song”

Traditionally, the Academy Awards do not give away Oscars to rappers, no matter what their contribution to the film industry. That changed first in 2003, when Eminem became the first ever hip-hop artist to take home the award for Best Original Song.

Exactly three years later, the  legendary hip-hop group, Three-6 Mafia again set a new mark, becoming the first rap group ever to take home the Oscars.

Two years ago, Common and John Legend took home the award for their song “Glory,” from the motion picture Selma.
