History of Eminem at the Grammys: Awards, Nominations & Performances

Today is the Grammys! The 59th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony will be held on February 12, 2017. The CBS network will broadcast the show live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles. We know Eminem will not be performing and he has no nomination so let’s take a look back at the history of Eminem at the Grammys through the years.

 

1999 – 42nd Annual Grammy Awards 

Eminem wins Best Rap Solo Performance for “My Name Is” and Best Rap Album for The Slim Shady LP.  “Guilty Conscience,” featuring Dr. Dre was also nominated for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group but didn’t win.

 

2000 – 43rd Annual Grammy Awards

Eminem wins Best Rap Solo Performance for “The Real Slim Shady,” Best Rap Album for The Marshall Mathers LP and Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for “Forget About Dre” with Dr. Dre. The Marshall Mathers LP was also nominated for Album of the Year but didn’t win.

 

That night Eminem also performed “Stan” with Elton John which is considered “One of the Greatest Grammy Moments in History”

 

 

2002 – 45th Annual Grammy Awards

Eminem wins Best Short Form Music Video for “Without Me” and Best Rap Album for The Eminem Show. “Without Me” was also nominated for Record of the Year and Best Rap Solo Performance and The Eminem Show was nominated for Album of the Year but didn’t win.

 

 

2003 – 46th Annual Grammy Awards 

Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” alone receives five nominations! Eminem wins Best Male Rap Solo Performance and Best Rap Song for “Lose Yourself.” It was also nominated for Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media but didn’t win.

That night Eminem and Big Proof also performed “Lose Yourself,” wearing “Free Yayo” T-shirt.

 

 

 

2005 – 48th Annual Grammy Awards

Eminem earns 3 nominations but loses all of them. “Just Lose It” and “Mockingbird” were nominated for Best Rap Solo Performance, Encore was nominated for Best Rap Album and The song “Encore,” featuring Dr. Dre and 50 Cent was nominated for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group.

 

2006 – 49th Annual Grammy Awards

“Smack That” with Akon and “Shake That” with Nate Dogg both were nominated for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration but neither of them won.

 

2009 – 52nd Annual Grammy Awards

Eminem wins Best Rap Album for Relapse and Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for “Crack A Bottle,” with 50 Cent and Dr. Dre. “Beautiful” was also nominated for Best Rap Solo Performance but didn’t win.

That night Eminem, Drake, Lil Wayne and Travis Barker performed “Drop The World” and “Forever”:

 

 

 

2010 – 53nd Annual Grammy Awards

Eminem receives total of 10 nominations but wins only 2 of them. Recovery won Best Rap Album and “Not Afraid” won Best Rap Solo Performance. “Love The Way You Lie,” featuring Rihanna, was nominated for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, Best Rap Song and Best Music Video but lost all of them. “Not Afraid” was also nominated for Best Rap Song and Recovery for Album of the Year but didn’t win. The same night “Airplanes (Part II)” with B.o.B. and Hayley Williams was also nominated for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals but didn’t win. That night the Grammy promo featured Eminem’s “Not Afraid.”

 

 

 

That night Eminem, Rihanna, Skylar Grey, Dr. Dre and Adam Levine performed “Love The Way You Lie (Part II)” and “I Need A Doctor”

 

 

 

2011 – 54th Annual Grammy Awards

“I Need A Doctor,” with Skylar Grey and Dr. Dre was nominated for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration and Best Rap Song but didn’t win. Eminem was also credited for Rihanna’s album “Loud” as a featured artists that was nominated for Album of the Year but didn’t win.

 

2014 – 57th Annual Grammy Awards

Eminem wins Best Rap Album for The Marshall Mathers LP 2 and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for “The Monster,” featuring Rihanna. Rap God and Berzerk were also nominated for Best Rap Performance but didn’t win.
