Last week, we saw three releases from artists who are all at separate points in their career. Joe Budden released his first one hundred percent independent album with Rage & The Machine. NBA all star Damian Lillard – who started publicly releasing music in 2015 – released his debut The Letter O. Lastly, D.R.A.M. released his highly anticipated debut album Big Baby D.R.A.M. – led by his hit single ‘Broccoli’ which currently sits at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Joe Budden‘s new album debuted at #32 with 10,196 in true sales and 12,281 with streams, bringing it to total 22,477 copies. Certainly not a bad number for Joey. Dame D.O.L.L.A.’s debut impressively sold 3,806 copies digitally and saw some pretty big streaming numbers for an album that dropped with 12 hours notice. Surprisingly, D.R.A.M.’s album struggled mightily. Big Baby D.R.A.M. only sold 2,550 despite ‘Broccoli’ being a smash. Those numbers do not take away from the quality of the album. However with streams added, D.R.A.M. sold 17,914, proving that people are listening but they aren’t necessarily purchasing.
