Eminem’s “The Marshall Mathers LP2” Completes 2 Years


♫ On this day, exactly two years ago, November 5, 2013, Eminem released 8th solo studio album The Marshall Mathers LP2 that features guest appearances from Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, Skylar Grey, Nate Ruess, Sia and Jamie N Commons, executive produced by Rick Rubin and Dr. Dre. The album includes one of the greatest rap songs in the recent years, “Bad Guy” and “Rap God.” 

♫ In the United States, the album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, selling 793,000 copies in its first week, becoming the second-biggest debut of 2013 and the second-largest sales week of the year. It finished 2013 with more than 3.8 million copies sold worldwide, and has sold a total of 5.7 million sold since its release worldwide.

♫ The Marshall Mathers LP 2 has received generally positive reviews from music critics. It has scored 72 out of 100 based on 33 reviews. The Guardian gave it a perfect 100. 

♫ XXL magazine ranked MMLP2 at #2 on their list of The 25 Best Albums of 2013. Complex magazine ranked the album at #6 on The 50 Best Albums of 2013, Spin magazine ranked it at #7 and Rolling Stone at #4 on their list of Best Hip Hop Albums of 2013. 

♫ The Marshall Mathers LP2 earned Eminem Grammy award in “Best Rap Album” and Billboard Music Award in “Top Rap Album” categories and was nominated for Album Of The Year at BET Hip Hop Awards.
