On this day, exactly six years ago (May 15, 2009) Eminem released his sixth solo studio album Relapse. It is the first solo material since 2004 release, Encore.
Relapse debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 charts with the first week sales of 610,000 copies. The lead single of the album, Crack A Bottle which features 50 Cent and Dr Dre also topped the Billboard 100 charts with 420,000 downloads, breaking the previous record held by T.I.’s Live Your Life featuring Rihanna. Relapse became best selling rap album of 2009. The album sold more than 10 Million copies worldwide and 2.4 million copies in USA.to date.

Relapse received negative reviews from critics. It has an aggregate score of 59 out of 100, based on 28 critics’ reviews. The Entertainment Weekly gave the highest evaluation with 91 points out of 100.
At the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards Relapse won Best Rap Album and Crack a Bottle took Best Rap Performance by Duo or Group.
